Shia LaBeouf and Julie Christie are starring in a segment of New York, I Love You, an anthology of 12 short films set in each of the city’s five boroughs.
Others already cast in the project include Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Chris Cooper, Anton Yelchin, Drea de Matteo, Ethan Hawke and Kevin Bacon. The directors include Allen Hughes, Brett Ratner, Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson. Shekhar Kapur, director of the Elizabeth is directing the LaBeouf-Christie segment, stepping in last month after writer/director Anthony Minghella’s sudden death.
The story centers on a woman who checks into a hotel that is in between worlds. There, she meets a young man and the two discover not only a mysterious connection but develop an understanding as to their situation. The short is described as being similar to Minghella’s breakout film, Truly Madly Deeply. Production is under way on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
LaBeouf next stars in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Eagle Eye. Christie, enjoying a late-career resurgence, is coming off an Oscar nomination for her work in Sarah Polley’s Away From Her.

Farrell makes three for Triage
Colin Farrell will play a photojournalist in Bosnian director Danis Tanovic’s dark drama Triage. Tanovic, whose No Man’s Land won the Oscar for foreign-language film in 2002, will direct from his own adaptation of Scott Anderson’s novel.
Farrell will star as a photojournalist named Mark who returns home from a dangerous assignment. When his colleague and best friend fails to return home, Mark’s girlfriend, Elena (Paz Vega), must find the clues to the mystery that’s slowly killing her boyfriend. Christopher Lee also stars.
The film is scheduled to begin shooting this month on location in Ireland and in Spain. Farrell is currently in U.S. theatres with the acclaimed black comedy In Bruges.

Brody to star in Italian horror
Adrien Brody has signed on to star in Giallo, the latest thriller from Italian horrormeister Dario Argento.
The story follows an American flight attendant who teams with an Italian investigator to search for her missing sister who has been abducted by a serial killer known only as Yellow.
Emmanuelle Seigner (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) and Spanish actress Elsa Pataky (Asterix and the Olympic Games) have also joined the cast.
The term “giallo” means “yellow” in Italian and also refers to the Italian pulp, horror and erotic genre of film and literature. Argento has built his name with movies that combine horror and eroticism such as 1977’s Suspiria and last year’s The Mother of Tears.
Production is set to start May 12 in Turin. Giallo might mark the first time an actor of Brody’s caliber has starred in an Argento film. Brody, recently in theatres with The Darjeeling Limited, will serve as an executive producer.
