Farrell makes three for Triage
Colin Farrell will play a photojournalist in Bosnian director Danis Tanovic’s dark drama Triage. Tanovic, whose No Man’s Land won the Oscar for foreign-language film in 2002, will direct from his own adaptation of Scott Anderson’s novel.
Farrell will star as a photojournalist named Mark who returns home from a dangerous assignment. When his colleague and best friend fails to return home, Mark’s girlfriend, Elena (Paz Vega), must find the clues to the mystery that’s slowly killing her boyfriend. Christopher Lee also stars.
The film is scheduled to begin shooting this month on location in Ireland and in Spain. Farrell is currently in U.S. theatres with the acclaimed black comedy In Bruges.
Brody to star in Italian horror
Adrien Brody has signed on to star in Giallo, the latest thriller from Italian horrormeister Dario Argento.
The story follows an American flight attendant who teams with an Italian investigator to search for her missing sister who has been abducted by a serial killer known only as Yellow.
Emmanuelle Seigner (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) and Spanish actress Elsa Pataky (Asterix and the Olympic Games) have also joined the cast.
The term “giallo” means “yellow” in Italian and also refers to the Italian pulp, horror and erotic genre of film and literature. Argento has built his name with movies that combine horror and eroticism such as 1977’s Suspiria and last year’s The Mother of Tears.
Production is set to start May 12 in Turin. Giallo might mark the first time an actor of Brody’s caliber has starred in an Argento film. Brody, recently in theatres with The Darjeeling Limited, will serve as an executive producer.
