It is the story of Raj (Shahid Kapoor) and his date with destiny. Raj is a bright young architect who has just stepped out of college. Ready to take the world by storm, this celebrated student is confident owing to his great career in college.

Soon enough Raj is reeling under some bad luck as all his endeavours to shine go a-begging. He meets a psychic named Haseena Bano Jaan (Juhi Chawla) who predicts good times for Raj, but for it to happen Raj would have to find his lucky charm. Without revealing anything more she leaves Raj in a quandary.

Raj meets Priya (Vidya Balan) who is trying to save a community center from demolition. He also comes across a big shot builder Sanjeev Gill (Om Puri) and manages to convince Gill into assigning him a big project. What follows is Raj’s journey into finding out if his change of luck is here to stay.

“Kismat Konnection is another underdog story. It stems from my perennial liking for the premise of an underdog. I come from a middle-class background and having regretfully made a lot of compromises in my own life, I can understand their gravity.

The film is about the idea that a connection between two people is a question of fate or kismat. Matches are made in heaven and two people, even if they are not in proximity, are always together through an unexplained connection.

We signed Shahid Kapoor before the success days of Vivah and Jab We Met. With the success of his films Shahid has become a big star and since we were to work with a big star our small budget film went big too. The credit for this change has to go to Ramesh Taurani, our producer. He took the film to a larger scale and allowed us the luxury to shoot in Toronto. Kismat Konnection still has the Mumbai city theme; only it’s based in the midst of tall skyscrapers.

Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan have done an excellent job in the film and their chemistry should allow the audience to connect with our film.”
