The last time she faced a press conference this side of the country, it was for her debut film - Paap. Many years later, model turned actor Udita Goswami returns to do the same, courtesy ICL, and the first question she’s asked is an embarrassing one for any actor - Where have you been? “Of course I have been here. I have been performing, here, there, touring the world, earning my bread and butter,” Udita answers back firm and clear. Lots has changed about her. For one, she’s louder. “I know back then I was so naïve, so soft spoken. But now I know my way around Bollywood. I know the importance of a Friday - how it can make or break an actor,” Udita sounds confident again.

A string of duds, barring the not-so bad Zeher opposite Emraan Hashmi, hasn’t dampened her spirits. “I have always been a one-film-a-year person. I have been choosy. But all that’s about to change,” Udita looks you in the eye this time round. Apparently, she’s making a conscious effort to be seen and heard. “Frankly, I am fed up with people asking me why I am not doing a dozen films. So I have decided I am going to do three films this year. In fact I am going to announce the projects very soon,” lists out Goswami refusing to elaborate further. “All that I can tell you at this point of time is that I am working with actors I have never been paired opposite before,” she smiles. And no, they are not Bhatt camp films and don’t star Emraan Hashmi either. “It’s been so long since I even called him up…I don’t know if I should say this but I look at him as my brother,” Udita surely sounds very different.

Speaking of different she’s also - as she says so herself - letting go of the glam and bold look. “Been there, done that. Those roles are a thing of the past. I am aiming to do different kinds of films,” says the actor who hopes to pack in a comedy and “maybe a no-song film” in her trilogy. “I don’t want to do anything serious,” she affirms. And while the hits still elude her, Udita hates to be a pessimist. “I know my time will come,” says the actor who for the moment has house hunting on her mind. “I am in love with Goa. I am trying to buy a house there. For one, it’s a wonderful city and so close to Mumbai. Also that way I can take my dogs along in the car. I love Chandigarh too but then my dogs can’t come…” she chuckles off. Told you, this is a new Udita.
