Harishchandrachi Factory to open Asian Film Festival

The 8th Third Eye Asian Film Festival begins in Mumbai from December 4 with the Oscar-nominated film Harishchandrachi Factory. Amitabh Bachchan will be felicitated with the Asian Film Cultural award.

The seven-day film festival between December 4 and 10 aims to bridge the gap between the Asian film fraternities and promote Asian cinema. It will screen over 100 feature and short films from 24 countries including Turkey and Japan. The Focus On One Country being Egypt, seven contemporary Egyptian films will be screened. A 10- member film delegation comprising producers, directors, and stars from Egypt are expected to be part of the festival. A retrospective of Japanese film-maker Mikio Naruse will be held. The Asian Masters section will feature five films by Japanese master Nagisa Oshima. The Young Marathi Cinema section will showcase five films by young directors. the Filmmaker In Focus section will feature three internationally award-winning films of Iranian director Jafar Panahi. There will be a Debut Film Directors competition section with 15 films from first-time Asian film makers. The Short Films sections will have 44 films competing with each other.

The festival will be held across Mumbai at Plaza cinema, YB Chavan Centre auditorium and Chavan Digital Theatre in Central and South Mumbai.
