Classic re-lived

Creative quotient
Based on Dr. Suess’ classic story of the same name, Horton Hears A Who! is the story of an elephant named Horton (Jim Carrey) who discovers a whole town of microscopic people living on a speck of dust. The speck is logged in a pink flower and Horton carries this flower around in an attempt to find Whos, the microscopic people, a new place to live in.
The Mayor of Whosville (Steve Carell) talks Horton into helping them and also acts as his guide throughout the adventure trip. On his way, Horton meets a host of his friends and acquaintances from the jungle and almost everyone mocks him for his seemingly foolish actions. They ridicule Horton for him speaking to a speck of dust and caring for it more than his life.

Technical expertise
The clichéd humour and jokes have been dropped from the original writing. However, the visuals have been retained as it is. The original Dr. Suess’ books were a rage because their cartoon sketches were weirdly creative and unique and along with the humour they raised plenty of laughs.
Although the film is based on Dr Suess’ classic story it is more like an adaptation of the original concept and its main strength lies in its comedy. Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, Carol Burnett, Jamie Pressly and other cast members are seasoned comedians and their comic talents make the film a true fun experience.
The film is definitely a five-star adaptation of the original. It is way ahead of any past adaptation simply because of the animation expertise. The character designs and visuals of the film are jaw-dropping to say the least.
All in all, Dr. Suess’ Horton Hears A Who! is a fun film for all ages and most importantly it comes with the great message of lending a helping hand to one and all.

Verdict
This film is a must-watch for the kids and its comedy, visual effects, loveable characters and the final message make the film worth four stars.
