He made a film in the early 70s that made news even in 2006. The man is Chandra Barot and the movie Don. Over a year after the release of the remake of Don (by the brilliant Farhan Akhtar, starring the equally brill Shah Rukh Khan), director Chandra Barot, who made the original Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, is gearing up for the director’s chair once again. “I plan to launch the film by the middle of this year. It is yet to be titled, but it will be as action-packed as Don,” says Barot, whose other films failed to repeat the charisma of Don, which was not a box-office hit in the first place. “Sachin Bhowmik is writing the script of my film. I’m very confident because he has written successful films like Krrish,” he says. “I had approached Abhishek Bachchan for the lead role but he said he had no dates. However, I plan to have a big star cast for my film,” says Barot.
