Our first meeting with Purie at a café on Carter Road doesn’t seem like one; the nineteen-to-a-dozen damsel can really talk. “I love people, I love to talk,” she smiles. “And I love to travel. The show put all my three loves together.” The show isn’t shot, cleverly by director Mozez Singh, on a studio set but on real locations on Singh’s farm, Pilot’s crumbling ancestral home and dancing with Balan in a Mumbai nightclub.
Why a red fur couch, we ask. “It signifies passion and warmth,” she says, as she scrutinises her red fingernails. “We just pack the couch when we travel and can set up anywhere in half-hour.”
Purie also doesn’t look for a scoop from her stars. “When there are 15 television channels covering something, everything is un-exclusive,” she says. “I don’t like the invasion of privacy. For me, it is all about the celebration of the personality.”
So far Salman Khan and Abhinav Bindra, among others, have graced her couch. “People surprise you,” she says, recalling her chat with Khan. “I expected him to be blunt and straightforward. But he was also so gentle and so soft.” Over 50 people were at Mehboob Studio, for Khan’s shoot. “Yet Salman was so focussed on me. That day I learnt from him that when you have a job to do you should be focussed only on that?”
Purie is also awaiting the release of her next film Rock On!! “I play the owner of a lifestyle store who has lived life. I’m a sort of mentor for Prachi Desai’s character.”
Purie is paired opposite Purab Kohli in the film. Her character is the kind that believes that since you have only one life, live it, not sit back and mourn that something you wished for didn’t happen. Thankfully, she did not have to learn any musical instrument for her role. “We girls play groupies and the guys did all the hard work,” she laughs. “I know how to play the harmonium but I’m musically challenged.”
She hasn’t seen the film yet, she says, surprising us. “I was travelling so I missed the trials. I told Abhishek Kapoor that I will see it at the premiere”.
