During the launch, Bachchan became nostalgic, remembering the days he spent in Goa during the shooting of his career's first film Saat Hindustani.
"Those were the wonderful days when Goa was exquisitely beautiful, quiet and less crowded," the Big B commented.
The book, a brainchild of veteran industrialist Dattaraj Salgaoncar, celebrates Goan life, culture and history from pre-historic times down to our own day.
Recalling the days of Khwaja Ahmad Abbas-produced film Saat Hindustani, Bachchan said that the entire crew had to wade through jungles for almost one month, recreating the pre-liberation times.
"Abbas saab was purely socialist in his writing, attitude and the way he made films. When we set out to shoot this film, he made it sure that we follow principles of socialism," the Big B reminded.
The book release function had Goa's veterans including famous cartoonist Mario Miranda, pop singer Remo Fernandes, fashion designer Wendell Rodricks, Goa Legislative Assembly speaker Pratapsingh Rane and others present.
