They went, they performed and the Bhutanese went frenzy. Fusion band Indian Ocean's debut act in the Himalayan country attracted an impressive audience that swayed and hummed and was literally drenched.

The concert was organised by the Indian Embassy and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations to mark the occasions of coronation of King Jigme Khesar Namgyal centenary celebrations and the golden jubilee of Jawaharlal Nehru's visit to Bhutan.

Little did Susmit Sen, Asheem Chakravarty, Rahul Ram and Amit Kilam knew that Bhutanese, where traditions are held with utmost respect, are great fans of Indian music.

The Thimphu crowd literally immersed into the Indian Ocean as the band crooned their popular numbers Jhini, Bandeh and songs from their albums Desert Rain and Kandisa among others.

The band had first played outside India in 2001 in London followed by the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
