Casting coup
Suniel Shetty had auditioned almost the entire Mumbai for a suitable actor for my character! The he spotted my Nivea ad on a poster and thought I would be perfect to play Lisa. He scouted for my number, called me for an audition and after a quick test look I was okayed.
Stepping stone
I was a very hyperactive Delhi girl taking up summer jobs when I was just in class nine. Very fond of dancing and facing the camera, I started modeling in college. But I always knew I wanted to become an actress, and headed for Mumbai after my graduation where I soon bagged the Nivea ad.
First shot
It was an action scene where I had to save Zayed Khan from his opponents and in the process shoot down five in five seconds. I had never held a gun before, but director Apoorva Lakhia simply said ‘hello babes, ready’, and handed me a gun. On my part, I just fired. He said that except for having blinked I did a great job!
Stumbling block
Fortunately things have been smooth sailing for me. I was quite successful in Delhi, and Mumbai has been kind to me as well. Working on stunts in Mission Istanbul was a bit tough at first, but very soon I picked up the art.
Lessons learnt
Since we represent our country when we shoot abroad we must be extra conscious of how we behave with the locals of that place. When we were shooting in Turkey for Mission… a lot of locals would come to watch us shoot and try to chat with us. At times it would get frustrating, as there was a language barrier, but we had to smile all the time.
Matinee idol
My favourite is Shefali Chaya! I cried with her as I watched Satya and Waqt. She has that power to hold the audience with her histrionics. Otherwise I am in love with Aishwarya Rai. I fasted when she participated in the Miss World contest and broke my fast when she won!
Future plans
I have become an integral of Suniel Shetty’s production house and have been signed for three films. I have also completed Loot an action-comedy, and soon the third project will take off.
