As Indian and US investigators dug deeper into the David Headley case, some Bollywood stars who had reportedly interacted with the American terror suspect during his stay here in 2007-2009 are likely to be questioned.

India's National Investigation Agency(NIA) might record statements of actors Emraan Hashmi and Aarti Chhabria who reportedly had come in contact with Headley, sources said.

The NIA move came even as Mumbai-based gym instructor Vilas Varak said he was instrumental in introducing filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's son Rahul to Headley and that he had informed police about Headley, a Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) operative.

About his link with Headley, Vilas said, "I never went to meet Headley...he came to me." He claimed he has now lost his job at 'Moksha' gymnasium at Napean Sea Road where he was working for eight years because of the Headley affair.

In Pune, police said Headley had stayed at hotel 'Surya Villa' near Osho Ashram on March 16 during his visit to the city this year. The hotel manager was also questioned.

It was through Rahul that Headley established contacts with some Bollywood figures, sources said, adding NIA has been recording the statements of persons with whom the terror suspect had interacted during his stay in city. Police said Rahul is a witness in the case.

When contacted, actor Hashmi stated through a text message, "All questions regarding the case should be directed to the NIA." Chhabria's lawyer Hitesh Jain denied his client's links with Headley. "There is absolutely no connection whatsoever between Chhabria and Headley. This is a mischievous and malicious rumour alleging links between the two," Jain said.

Cinema, Terrorism, Underworld by Bharat on 2009-11-19 15:07:45.216382+05:30 It is long time since we hear about people from Bollywood are linked to terrorism related issues including underworld connections. Generally people of cinema world are only after money to lead highly luxurious life; and are not at all expected to show love & honesty to the nation or its people. Still people are voting cinema people to Parliament, Assemblies etc. who give scant attention to attend the parliament / assembly meetings. Unless the terrorism suspected people from cinema are thrown behind bars, this phenomenon is likely to continue. Mere questioning and leaving them free is just absurd and cheating the public. Very difficult to understand what India is.

26/11 by Binay on 2009-11-18 23:20:00.518673+05:30 Why do we shout so much about few hundred people died by terrorist attack in South Mumbai area. Take todays Times of India, see the startling figure of local train accident deaths in Mumbai. Over 2000 people have died in 2008. If I take earlier figure it is 10-15 everyday. We take no notice of this. Mumbai local railways is a bigger terrorist than those produced by Pakistan. Forget about the number of people who have lost thair limbs. These poor hapless people can not squeeze in to the train in rush hour and they fall off. I have been seing the same condition of train since 1996. No news paper ever condole this as if these are natural deaths. The difference of the value of human life in Taj and that in local train is probably too big. I am sad for this country.
