In Harihar Nagar, the laugh-riot that was released in 1990, finds a sequel in 2 Harihar Nagar, a film that is definitely worth a watch. Lal, who was one of the directors of In Harihar Nagar as part of the Siddique-Lal duo, turns an independent solo director with 2 Harihar Nagar. Lal deserves to be appreciated for having lived up to expectations and for having delivered an entertainer worth watching, along with family. Mahadevan (Mukesh), Govindankutty (Siddique), Appukuttan (Jagadeesh) and Thomas Kutty (Ashokan), the four young friends of In Harihar Nagar come together once again in the same Harihar Nagar where they had gone after a girl called Maya and tried to woo her. The four friends, who are now not-so-young - three of them are happily married - and also well-settled in life, come together for the marriage of the fourth, Thomas Kutty. And in the days preceding the marriage, they decide to spend their time together, reliving the past as much as possible. And once again they come across Maya, this time another Maya. And there starts a new story - of going after the girl, of getting trapped in some big problems and of tackling the problems in their own style.

Technical Expertise
2 Harihar Nagar gives you exactly what you had been expecting: a joy- ride with tons of fun and humour,. Mukesh, Siddique, Jagadeesh and Ashokan put in real good performances in the lead roles and make you laugh out loud. Lakshmi Rai is good in the female lead. Appa Haja, who was in the prequel too, does a good work of his role as the sub-inspector. Sudipto Balav is impressive in a negative role. Cinematography by Venu is one of the highlights of the film, which also features good editing by Sajan and uncompromising support from art director Prashanth Madhav. For all those who still cherish memories of In Harihar Nagar in their hearts , the sequel offers clippings from the original and has remix versions of two popular songs from the prequel. Lal’s 2 Harihar Nagar is no less than a treat for film lovers of all ages and classes.
Verdict
Three stars for the humour, the direction and the script.
