Golmaal... year’s biggest grosser
Unlike most sequels, Golmaal Returns has turned out to be the year's highest grosser so far! Produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. and directed by Rohit Shetty, the sequel had the biggest opening and is still going strong. Ever since the film released last Wednesday, it has been running to packed theatres. In fact, with Golmaal Returns, Mumbai's Chitra theatre has not only beaten all records of the past nine years, but also has been booked in advance for the next nine days.
According to trade analyst Vinod Mirani, " Both the films that were Diwali releases are doing really well. Though Fashion is faring well with the multiplex audience, Golmaal Returns has broken records of sorts at various theatres across the country." The fact that the films released during the festive season has made a huge impact at the box-office. The Diwali weekend made all the possible difference to the box-office collections.
The film is a super-hit in cities like Punjab, Hoshiapur, and Jammu while theatres in regions like Raipur and Amravati are also packed to capacity. Though both the films are doing well internationally, Golmaal... has managed to make more profits in the overseas collections. Golmaal Returns has collected nearly 40,000 pounds in just a single day in London.
