The movies shown at the Osian Cinefan Festival may not appeal to a huge audience but lovers of offbeat films should certainly head to Siri Fort Complex when it begins on July 10. The festival is in its 10th year now, and promises to be bigger and more spectacular than ever. This year’s focus is on Asian and Arab cinema and over 150 feature and non-feature films will be screened.

Apart from the screenings, IBM2 — a series of seminars, conferences, exhibitions, auctions and panel discussions— was started in 2005 and this year too, the plan is to help the viewer understand a film right from inception.

The fifth edition of Talent Campus India has been organised in collaboration with Berlinale Talent Campus, Berlin International Film Festival and Max Mueller Bhavan. Thirty young aspiring filmmakers will be invited to New Delhi for a workshop from July 13-18, 2008, to interact with renowned filmmakers and film professionals from India and abroad.

It gets better, Paul Schrader, one of the world’s most famous screenplay writers, will deliver a “Masterclass” on screenwriting at the festival where two films written by him, Mishima and Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver will be screened. A new competition section that deals with themes of intolerance has been created this year.

The festival is from July 10-20 at Siri Fort Complex.
