Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge
David gives away the bride

Some men are born only to fulfil major ambitions, adventurous dreams. They come in from nowhere as it were and soon make friends with success. They join hands and decide to work hard, work with the determination to triumph, work with the kind of dedication that other men should admire, envy and even emulate if they have to make it big, make it successfully within a very short time — two men like Gordhan Tanwani and Ajay Acharya. They started off with the blessings of Saibaba and aptly named their banner, Baba Films.

Their first film Ishq, directed by Indra Kumar with Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, Ajay Devgan and Kajol went on to become one of the biggest hits. Success spurred them on and they made their second film, Pyar To Hona Hi Tha, written and directed by Anees Bazmee with Ajay Devgan and Kajol (many in the industry believe that it is these two films made under the banner of Gordhan and Ajay which brought Ajay Devgan and Kajol closer and led them to take those seven sacred rounds, a marriage to be remembered).

Gordhan and Ajay do not believe in wasting time. They took off with their third film, Dulhan Hum Le Jaayenge and they are all set to release the film even as others who were thinking of making films when they started Dulhan Hum Le Jaayenge are still struggling with their scripts. With a director like David Dhawan who knows the basics of entertainment like very few directors know and artistes like Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor who are so used to David’s style of filmmaking the film had to be made and completed in the shortest possible time without the quality of entertainment suffering in any way.

David, now known as the one-man entertainment industry, has his script on his finger tips. He works on so many films at the same time but he treats all of them with the same dedication. His only aim as a filmmaker is to give the audience the kind of entertainment that will make their dreary lives dearer to them. His aim — always-to give the best to everyone, his producers, his stars, his distributors and to the people who have now got addicted to his brand of entertainment. David’s Dulhan Hum Le Jaayenge, is also a blend of entertainment, emotions ad excitement, the typical ingredients of a David film but with a big dash of difference this time.

David, takes off with the story of a girl called Sapna (Karisma Kapoor). She loses her parents at a very young age and is brought up by three loving but eccentric uncles, one, a God-fearing man always involved in his involvement with God, the second, a fitness-fanatic who is forever waiting for an opportunity to flex his muscles and the third a dancer who needs an occasion, event or celebration to dance. He lives for dancing, just for dancing. Sapna has to keep all her uncles happy. She follows all their teachings and preachings till she is exhausted, exasperated goes crazy. The three uncles also have their own principles and required qualifications when it comes to choosing a bridegroom for Sapna.

A time comes when Sapna is disgusted with all her three uncles. She takes a bold step and runs away from home and joins a tourist group. She wants change. She needs fun. She wants to make the best of her youth which is going waste because of the eccentricities of her uncles. Raja (Salman Khan) is a part of the group. Sapna takes an instant dislike for him.

Till destiny plays a part. The two, Raja and Sapna get separated from the group. Sapna faces a series of major obstacles. Raja comes to her rescue every time. Soon a time comes when Sapna realises she is in love with Raja. Raja, naturally, falls in love with Sapna too. Together they decide to approach Sapna’s uncles to seek their permission to get married. Little does Raja know about the reality of Sapna’s obstinate uncles. They ploy havoc with Raja till Raja realises he has taken enough and decides to show them the stuff he is made of. He decides to take on the uncles one by one. Raja’s decision leads to a mayhem of “masti till masti” reaches a point of no return and Raja makes one last do or die attempt to win over the three uncles. Raja is the raja of his own rules. He keeps his tussle to get Sapna going without giving up. It looks like a sapna (dream) for Raja for some time but Raja is no ordinary Raja. He vows to win over the three uncles and Sapna waits for him to fulfil his dream. Sapna supports him.

There are circumstances which go out of control but Raja overcomes all the circumstances, all the turmoils and does something that rattles the uncles, makes them happy and even unites them. The bride is the greatest winner, winning over four different kinds of men is no joke. There is a grand celebration of entertainment. Paresh Rawal, Om Puri and Anupam Kher play the three uncles (what a riot of fun!), Himani Shivpuri, Rakesh Bedi, Kashmira Shah, Deepak Tijori, Farida Jalal and Johnny Lever play all the other key roles. Dara Singh, Kader Khan, Mayur and Satish Kaushik make special appearances. Himesh Reshamiya makes a big difference to the world of music, his first major attempt.

Entertainment with David Dhawan with a capital E. That’s what Baba Films’ Dulhan Hum Le Jaayenge is. That’s what they say. Find out for yourself. The time has been fixed. The atmosphere is full of entertainment, excitement. It’s all yours, made for you, only for you.
