ATN has two channels
ATN has announced that it has two channels. ATN International Ltd. has
tied up with Shin Satellite Public Co. Ltd. of Thailand, part of US 11
billion dollars Shinavatra group having worldwide interest in satellites,
internet connectivity, tele-communication and basic telephoning services
for transmitting ATN World. The channel will be transmitted
through their extended C-band Global Satellite that covers over two thirds
of the worlds population in 126 countries and has foot prints over
Asia, Australia, Europe excluding UK and South Africa.
This is the second channel of ATN International, the first being ATN
Bangla launched about 2 years ago. According to Santosh Kumar Jain,
Managing Director of ATN International Ltd., ATN Bangla primarily
caters to the needs of Bangladesh viewers and has prestigious ad-clients
such as Lever Bros., Procter and Gamble, Pepsi et al. The channel felt
that they could tap more viewership specially with Indian and Bangladeshi
born Bengali speaking masses settled worldwide. Since the new channel
is on a global beam, it may be downlinked in European country and further
uplinked for covering USA, Canada where there is a great demand for Bangla
programmes. The channel will feature nine daily serials produced by renowned
directors like Partha Ghosh, Anjan Choudhuri, Subhash Chatterjee etc and
also with Ajay-Kajol Devgan.
Apart from the above, the channel will present weekly serials based on
family drama, comedy, suspense thriller and many more programmes for children.
Informative programmes such as news and current affairs, news magazines,
shows on films, music, art and culture. Bangla movies and some hit films
from Hollywood will also be shown on the channel.
