Blessed with a chiselled physique and Greek god looks, Hrithik danced his way into the hearts of the Gen-next with Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), but it took him time to realise the immense potential that he showed in his debut film. Born in a prominent filmy family to actor-producer Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik’s inclination towards the glitz and glamour towards Bollywood was all but natural. He started acting from the tender age of six with Aasha (1980) where he appeared as an extra. Similar stints followed in Aap Ke Deewane (1980) and Bhagwan Dada (1986) both of which starred his father in the leading role. His father prepared a tailor-made launch vehicle for him with Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai. The masala flick’s success was unprecedented and it made Hrithik a star overnight. Many hundred awards and adulations later, Hrithik discovered the pangs of stardom. Everybody’s expectation were sky high and all he could deliver were damp squibs. Good performances in Fiza and Mission Kashmir not withstanding, critics and fans alike started discussing him as a one film wonder. He used his father’s banner for resurrecting his image and career. To say that he succeeded will be an understatement. Koi...Mil Gaya (2003) drew in the crowds like nothing before and his role as a mentally challenged person won over all the doubting Thomases and more. Since then he hasn’t looked back. In 2004 Lakshya pleased the classes while two years down the road, Krissh and Dhoom 2 made the masses go wild. Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar in 2008 was again a major hit and Hrithik’s decision to skip all offers like Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage (2002) seems to be working and all his well wishers wishes seems to be working for him. Hrithik married his high-school sweetheart and daughter of actor Sanjay Khan Suzanne and they had their first child, a baby boy named Hrehaan on March 28, 2006.
