Abhishek began at Bombay Scottish School; continued at Jamnabhai and finished studying at Aiglon School in Switzerland. He was studying business at Boston University but gave that up and came to India to start working in movies.
He made his debut with JP Dutta’s ‘Refugee’ in 2001 with Kareena Kapoor whose sister Karisma Kapoor he was then engaged to. They had announced their engagement on Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th birthday anniversary but later called it off.
Abhishek had to suffer from a string of flops like his father but just as everyone had written him off he gave some very good performances in ‘Yuva’, ‘Bunty aur Babli’, ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Guru’.
In ‘Yuva’, directed by Mani Ratnam, he played a character with negative shades called Lallan. It is this role which got his acting prowess noticed.
In ‘Guru’ he worked with Aishwarya Rai, the former Miss World who he later married amidst much media speculation.
He has appeared on-screen with Aishwarya again in the sequel to Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sarkar’, in with he had worked with his father Amitabh Bachchan.
He plays an Indian superhero in his latest release ‘Drona’ in which he stars opposite Priyanka Chopra and also acts with his mother Jaya Bachchan.
