| A director emerges from the
Shadow Director Sanjay Upadhyay has been yo-yoing between television and cinema for some time. But now that Saaya has has scored with Sony viewers, there could be more serious stuff from the director who has assisted the likes of Ramesh Sippy and Govind Nihalani.

To television with hope Cine-discard, Sumeet Saigal, makes his TV debut with Himesh Reshammiya’s Aangan, which debuts on Zee TV in March. He also has Ashok Shekhar’s Shaan in the works, and says that his commitment to television will hinge on how the viewers react to him.

Mahayagya
This was a serial that was always beset by controversies.
First it was its political characters which drew condemnation from their
real-life brethren. After having weathered that storm, and winning a sizeable
following in western and northern India - and winning a few awards including
this years Screen-Videocon award - Mahayagya, on Sony, directed by Anil Choudhary
has been told to wind up after its 104th episode. The show airs its 96th
episode, this week.
