 I CAN'T CONTINUE SINGING FOR HEROINES ALL MY LIFE She seems to have made a habit of winning awards. The first one came her way in 1987. The National Award for Best Playback Singer. She has won the Tamil Nadu State Award three times and the Kerala State Award 11 times. When she heard the news of her winning the Screen-Videocon ’97 Award for the Hindi song Payali chunmun (Virasat), Chitra was speechless, for the first time in her career!
