TELUGU
Prakash Raj as hero

Prakash Raj who rose to fame in Tamil filmdom playing wide ranging roles and turned hero with the recent Guruparvai, makes his debut as hero in Telugu, with the remake of the Tamil hit.

Produced by Kalyan, the film has as many as five heroines, Raasi, Sanghvi, Sneha, Vidya and a newfind. A line from Prakash’s recent film with Chiranjeevi, Chudalani Undi, has become the title for the remake, Veedu Samayundi Kaadu. Uppalapati Narayan Rao is the director.

Producer Kalyan claimed that despite scouting for six months after procuring the rights he couldn’t find a right replacement for Prakash Raj. Finally, he signed Prakash himself to play the lead. “The character goes through all kinds of emotions and we felt only Prakash can do justice to such a full-blown character. It was a very big hit in Tamil and I think it will be a bigger hit in Telugu since we’re trying to make a better product,” he claimed.

The film has cinematography by Suresh, music by Vidyasagar, story by Manoj Kumar and screenplay by Ramani.
Sri Amulya Arts Productions is the banner.

After a hat-trick!

CLOSE on the heels of Samarasimhareddy, which has been declared big hit by the trade among the Sankranti releases, producer Venkat Rao has announced his second film with the same team of Balakrishna and Gopal. The team of Balakrishna and Gopal have scored a hat-trick with this message oriented film and will be finalising the script for their fourth film very soon.

Naveen’s next

AFTER a slight setback young sensation Naveen is back in the reckoning with two hits Snehithulu and Manasichichudu. He has become very choosy, in an effort to retain his winning streak. His next untitled film was launched at Rama Naidu Studios recently and it is being produced by Anuradhadevi and Karunakar Reddy under the banner of Savan Productions. Industry bigwigs like Rama Naidu, Dasari, ANR, Venkatesh and EVV Satyanarayana graced the occasion.

Kirti Reddy plays the female lead with Ravi Teja, Chandramohan, Ganesh, AVS, Brahmandam playing other key roles in the youthful love story. The film is a remake of the Tamil superhit Priyamudan. After shooting a major portion at Hyderabad, the unit will leave for Rajasthan. The film is to be released in April. It has story by Selva, music by SA Rajkumar, and cinematography by Selvaraj and is presented by Damodar Reddy.

Mahima in Telugu

Director SV Krishna Reddy has signed Mahima Chaudhury of Pardes fame to play the lead role opposite Srikanth in his forthcoming film Manasulomata. Jagapati Babu plays Mahima’s brother in the film which is being produced by Ravi Kishore (of Chandrakiran Films) who made the superhits Maavichiguru and Egire Pavurama with SV Krishna Reddy. The combo could well be on the verge of a hat-trick, as the film is a remake of a Tamil superhit.

Recently they were canning some vital sequences on Srikanth and Mahima at Hyderabad’s Exhibition Grounds and hordes of fans visited the venue for Mahima’s autograph, and she readily obliged them all. Unit hands had a tough time controlling the fans and Ravi Kishore could be heard even shouting at them for disturbing his unit in the midst of a shot.

Mahima said, “I’m thankful to Ravi Kishore and SV Krishna Reddy for the break in Telugu films, and also for the good role. It was nice working with both Jagapati Babu and Srikanth and the film is shaping up well.”
