Govinda, Sush teamed
Shri Siddhivinayak Films first untitled film was launched on April 21 at Filmistan Studios with a 10-day shoot. Stock-broker Ketan Parekh sounded the clap. Directed by David Dhavan, the film has Govinda, Sushmita Sen, Satish Kaushik, Mohnish Bahl, Tara Deshpande, Ashish Vidyarthi and Anupam Kher in key roles.

Jeetendra Jr makes debut
Jeetendra’s son, Tushar Kapoor, made his debut in Vashu Bhagnani’s Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. Kareena Kapoor is the leading lady. The film, to be directed by Satish Kaushik, was launched with the recording of a song at Sahara Studio, Mumbai on April 21, and has lyrics by Sameer and music by Anu Malik.

Honour for Taal
Subhash Ghai’s Taal has been adujed the best film of 1999 by the Andhara Film Journalist’s Association. The APFJ has decided to institute awards for Telugu films for the year, too.

Port Blair woos filmfolk
In a bid to promote the islands of Andaman and Nicobar for filmshoots, the government of the union territory has written to FICCI inviting producers to see for the islands. The last film to be shot there was Umesh Mehra’s Teri Bahon Mein.

FFI to meet ministers
The represntatives of the Film Federation of India will meet a group of ministers, headed by union finance minister Yashwant Sinha, regarding the proposed Convergence Bill, which is being scrutinised at present by the union law ministry.

Homage to Phalke
The film industry will pay homage to the father of Indian films, Dadasaheb Phalke on April 30, his 131st birth anniversary at ISCKON Auditorium. Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh will preside.

The film produced under the banner of Navketan International, is now being readied for release. Written, produced and directed by Dev Anand himself, the film features a galaxy of stars, and has music by Jatin-Lalit.
