With
the release of her debut album Akhian, Saroo Mainis dream
of making becoming a singer has been realised...
Saroo Maini
is the new singer on the music scene, with gorgeous looks. She is
a good example of East meets West, since the sound of her music
is a mix of the two. At the same time, she also has her own style
with the unusual mix of sound, technique and instrumental combinations.
Educated in
Chandigarh and Bangalore, she got a law degree. But music has always
been a passion and Saroo has been taking lessons in tanpura and
classical music for eight years with Shri Govind Roti (a disciple
of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi) and Kalyan (disciple of Pt. Jasraj).
A singer has
to be versatile, she feels, and adds, Its important
to believe in oneself. My music reflects my feelings and experiences.
Ive lived it and that is what you get to hear.
Her debut album
Akhian reflects the different moods n arrangement, and
is a romantic album. Ashu-Dhruv, who composed music for Kaizad Gustads
Bombay Boys have composed the music for the album, while lyrics
have been penned by Raajesh Johri. One song Chora Hindustani...
has been composed by Amod Bhatt and penned by Rameez.
The video of
the title song is about college girl being infatuated with a film
star. She is completely smitten by him and sees him wherever she
goes, and in whoever she meets. When she actually bumps into him,
she is left with a feeling of not knowing whether it is a dream
or reality.
Saroo also
does her bit of social service and will be doing a charity show
on October 4, in Bangalore, for the School for the Hearing Impaired,
which she regularly visits.
The buddin
singer describes herself as a renaissance women, and claims she
can make a difference to the music scene. Well have to wait
and watch.
