Anchoring
success
Anchoring
comes to her easily. Shes been at it since she was a kid.
No wonder then with Oru Vambu the popular talk show on Raj TV, Meenakshi
Priya has become an overnite celebrity. A tete-a-tete
How
did your parents who are teachers allow you to enter show biz?
My mother is fond of dance but she could not take it up as a profession.
So, shes fulfilling her desire through me.
Tell us how you got the chance to anchor a show on Raj TV?
Well, there was an ad in a newspaper inviting comperes for Raj TV.
I applied and was called for the screen test. As I wasnt new
to the camera, having anchored a few shows like Kanmani Poonga and
Ilam Thendral earlier, I did a good job and got in. Initially, they
asked me to anchor a programme Cine Mini. But I had to take a long
leave from my college to host this show. So, I requested a change
and got to anchor Oor Vambu which suits my other commitments.
You
have turned a celebrity after Oor Vambu...
Most of my friends watch the show. Its not praise alone, but
sometimes they are also critical about me. I do take their advice
if its proper.
Have you accepted any more serials?
No. I am in my final year of college. I want to complete my course
and then only seriously think about taking up acting full time.
I did get a few offers but I did not accept them.
Do your prefer dancing to acting?
Not really! Both are interrelated. In fact dance is a plus point
in films.
We
have heard that you are an active politician too.
True. Earlier, I was the District Secretary of youth wing of Bharathiya
Janata Party. Now I have become the secretary of the state youth
wing. Also as the secretary of Lioness Club I am engaged in lot
of social activities. I am a regular public speaker.
What are your other activties?
I am a black belt in karate. I run a dance school and teach 25 students.
As of now, my hands are full.
