Splat! is a
fast-paced, light entertainment series about the state-of-the-art
and science of animation. Splat! zooms around the world of visual
magic to preview amazing new films, reveal artists secrets,
tour the studios and see how the greatest animated films, cartoon
shows and video games are really created. In this episode, viewers
meet Abe-the animation worlds newest Messiah and saviour of
the Mudokon race. His journey from humble video game character to
feature film star has just begun. Splat catches up with Abes
creator Lorne Lanning at Oddworld Inhabitants. Viewers go online
to save the world with WhirlGirl, the champion of a new kind of
animation - web animation. Finally, Splat unwraps the magic behind
the new and improved effects-laden version of The Mummy.
Junkyard
Wards - Sky Rockets
Aug. 18, 8.00 p.m.
George
Gray and Cathy Rogers present the show in which two teams of engineers
and mechanics have just a single day to build spectacular machines
from junk. Set on a huge, specially constructed junkyard, the day
begins with George announcing the days challenge; today, it
is to build a Rocket! The teams embark on a 10-hour build of two
completely different machines. One team is to build a aerodynamic
rocket fuelled by several motors, whilst the other team construct
a pyramid shaped rocket with a single, powerful motor. The programme
finale is the firing of the rockets into the sky-the team to reach
the highest altitude and safely recover their payload, will become
the Junkyard Wars champions.
Neanderthal

This two-part series follows the experience of a small clan of Neanderthals
living in Dordogne, France, at one of the most important junctures
in human evolution. The story observes Neanderthal tool making and
hunting techniques, their social relationships and organisation
and ultimately their first encounter with Cro-Magnons (modern man).
This is the story of the rise and demise of the most successful
human species ever to have walked the earth, the story of a people
who survived for 250,000 years, living through and adapting to the
most violent extremes of climate, a species that thrived - until
modern man came along.
Greek
Islands Aug. 20,
11 p.m.
Megan McCormick takes an island hopping journey through the Greek
Islands. She starts at the Miaoulla Festival on Hydra, where a naval
battle is re-enacted. She visits the holy island of Patmos, which
attracts pilgrims from all over the world. She goes octopus fishing
there with a local fisherman and together they cook and eat it on
the beach. Travelling on the ferry between islands, Megan investigates
the best ways of passing the time before arriving at the wild, party
island of Mykonos. Here she has the real Greek Island beach experience,
goes horse riding with a Gay Cowboy group and visits the island
of Delos, one of the most sacred sites in Ancient Greece. Next stop,
the volcanic island of Santorini where Megan stays in cave hotel
before taking the boat to Crete where she visits the ancient royal
palace of Knossos, takes a hike through Europes longest gorge,
and ends her journey on the beach at the southernmost point of Europe.
The
Samurai Aug. 21,

The Samurai have influenced Japan for centuries. The bushido code,
or way of the warrior has helped to creat Japanese martial
arts and influenced both modern and traditional arts and handicrafts.
Japans history still shows its influence in everything from
films and television dramas to tea ceremony, judo, and childrens
games. A respect for tradition combines with the modern world to
help the Japanese art survive.
Art
of Muay Thai Aug.
22, 10 p.m.
Thailand is a land of Buddhists, home to people renowned for their
religious tolerance, hospitality and strong sense of social cohesion.
This is reflected in their love of festivals, their beautiful temples,
and their arts and crafts. By contrast, the countrys national
sport, Muay Thai, is perhaps the most advanced and ferocious of
all the martial arts. This program traces the lives of three Thai
boxers and how Muay Thai represents a chance to obtain stardom and
money. A Muay Thai champion is a national hero, a good fighter whose
success is seen as a result of not just his athletic ability, but
of the faith and conviction he holds for all things Thai-both real
and magic.

centres on ritual ceremonies performed by local priests and priestesses.
After witnessing the blessing of the new harvest, the Travellers
experience the ecstatic possession of women by the spirits of their
