Two new serials on Sony

Our Markets Bureau
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sony has begun two new serials this month, Hum Pardesi Ho Gaye and Your Honour. Hum Pardesi... which premiered on March 4, is about a girl who’s hurriedly married to an NRI living abroad in a short span of 10 days. It is about her struggle thereafter with situations and complications arising from the marriage. Shot extensively on locations abroad Hum Pardesi... is produced by Shobhana Desai and directed by Sanjay Upadhay. The cast comprises Kartikadevi Rane, Ashish Chowdhary, Sulbha Arya, Rakesh Pandey and others. It is being telecast every Sunday at 9.05 pm.

Your Honour brings Kavita Choudhry back to the small screen after a long hiatus. Scripted, produced and directed by Kavita herself Your Honour is a true to life kind of a story which deals with the very real and scary situations of crime, police brutality and the legal system. The story has two protagonists and one antagonist. It’s basically about a novice-lawyer Kaushalya, who finds herself framed for something which she has no clue about and her subsequent fight to get justice. The serial which was earlier launched on DD was taken off the air after two episodes. “We didn’t realise we will have to shell out a lot from our pockets to keep it going on DD,” admits Kavita who’s now looking forward to the response for her serial on Sony.

When asked whether there would be any character like that of Shekhar Kapur’s in Udaan, Kavita smiled, “Yes, if Shekhar Kapur has the time we will rope him for a small role.” Kavita plays the role of Kaushalya and the others in this hard-hitting serial include Sachin Khedekar, Govind Namdeo and Ali Raza Namdar.

The serial is slotted for telecast at 9.40 pm every Sunday from March 11.
