THE
CHANCE OF A LIFETIME
THIS has reference to the article The great betrayals
by Rajiv Vijayakar, published in the music section (Screen,
January 26). Indeed, strange are the ways of Bollywood. After
composing so many unforgettable songs for the Rajshris, Raam-Laxman
were sidelined unceremoniously for the next film by Sooraj
Barjatya, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon. It was rightly said that
one mans victory is another mans betrayal!
Anu Malik should rise to the occasion and score some classic
music and erase the stamp of the creater of chaloo music.
He should live up to the expectations of Rajshri Films.

A LIVING LEGEND
HEARTY congratulations to SP Balasubrahmaniam on winning
the prestigious Padmashri Award this year. The award, a little
laate in coming, is one more feather in the already crowded
cap of this great singer whose golden voice has enthralled
music-lovers all our India. In a long and glittering career
spanning four decades, SPB has scaled many peaks as a singer,
actor and music director par excellence. His monumental achievements
have earned him a place in the list of all-time greats in
the Indian film industry. In an age when cacophony passes
off as music, SPBs rich and sonorous voice assures connoisseurs
of music that melody in music is still alive and kicking.
No wonder then that he is called a living legend.

A WOW EVENT
FIRST of all I want to thank you for giving me three passes
to the Screen Awards. The Screen Awards 2001 function was
most glorious and beautiful. The awards were given to the
most deserving stars. The special award given to evergreen
legend Dev Anand for his 50 years contribution to Hindi
cinema was indeed the highlight.

EXAMPLE FOLLOWED
IN Split Screen in the issue dated February
9, Subhash K Jha, writing about Jeeto Chappad Phaad Ke on
Sony TV, mentions that the very first question in the first
episode was about Hrithik Roshan. The programme had a good
example to follow. The very first question posed to the very
first contestant to sit on the hot seat in Kaun Benega Crorepati
was about Madhuri Dixit.

A GREAT COVER
I just read the interview of Yash Chopra on the Screen
website. It felt really good to read my favourite directors
interview on his films. If possible can you please do the
same with Sridevi? Its high time a magazine put up some
interesting info on her movies and her forthcoming releases
if any. Please do let us know if you have any plans of having
an interview with Sridevi.
