Where
have all the housefull placards gone?
They
are cursing all of us filmmakers for making films that open
to empty houses, films with some of the big stars and super-stars
failing to draw people to the theatres. There are no house
full boards now, there are only empty houses and this will
continue till we start making good and entertaining films
which gives the audiences their moneys worth. Till then
we will continue to live in a dark world.
Pramod Chakravorty-filmmaker
The
black market is going through a very lean phase because there
are no films which are bringing in the money. The blackwallas
have lost their source of income and are looking for other
jobs. Rumi Jaffery-writer. The men (and even women) who sold
tickets in the black market are blaming filmmakers for making
films which are far from entertainment. These days there is
no kala bazaar in the bazaar. Dhanda manda hai, the blackwallas
say, which needs no description.
Mahesh Manjrekar-director
The
audience will never come back like they use to at one time
unless we give them good films, good entertainment, some excitement
and even some sense.
Satish Bhatnagar-writer
There
were times when even the worst film had that huge black board
stood outside the gate of the theatre saying that the house
was full. These days it happens only once in a way which only
means that we are going down the drains. We need to do a lot
of soul-searching if we have to save ourselves and avoid being
abused by the blackwallas who are now selling vegetables outside
the very theatres where they used to rule like kings once.
