Shoots and releases commence
With the withdrawal of the monsoons
from Maharashtra and the approach of the Navratri and Diwali
holidays, the shoots of films on outdoor locations as well
as indoors, in studios, have recommenced. Most of the Marathi
film producers are readying their films for certification
by the Central Board of Film Certification so as to release
them during the holiday season or immediately thereafter.
The first film to be released is the devotional Aai Shaktidevata
at Pune, Nashik, Satara and other centres with effect from
Friday September 29. Several films, irrespective of their
release, will certainly seek certification before December
31,2000 so as to qualify for entry for the Maharashtra State
Awards for Marathi films.
Baiko Chukli Standwar
shoot in Mumbai
Among the films which have resumed film shoots is Ashta
Siddhivinayak Chitras Baiko Chukli Standwar, which is
completing its last shooting schedule in Mumbai at the Essel
Studios as well as on locations at Versova. According to the
director of the film, Bhaskar Jadhav, the current and final
shoot was to conclude by October 2. He said that the film
was a rollicking comedy which had the rural as well as the
urban backdrops.
Being produced by Vijay Shinde, the film stars Laxmikant Berde,
Varsha Usgaonkar, Mohan Joshi and Chetan Dalvi. The story,
screenplay and dialogues have been written by Bhaskar Jadhav
himself, who has also jointly penned the lyrics along with
Shrikant Narule. There are six songs in the flm set to music
by Nandu Honap and have been sung by Ravindra Sathe, Uttara
Kelkar, Anupama Deshpande and Vinay Mandke. Being cinematographed
by Prakash Shinde, it will be edited by Vijay Khochikar.
Tuch Maazi Suhasini:
An offbeat, sensitive tale
Pasaydan Chitras Tuch Maazi Suhasini is said to
be an offbeat and sensitive story revolving round a cops
life. Produced and directed by Satish Randive, the film is
complete and expected to be released soon. Based on a story
and script written by Prakash Zende, with dialogues penned
by Pratap Gangavne, it stars Ajinkya Deo, Varsha Usgaonkar,
Alka Athalye, Sulabha Deshpande, Chandrakant Gokhale, Ravi
Patwardhan, Uday Tikekar, Dr Vilas Ujavane, Supriya Pathare,
Alka Inamdar and Pinky. Rajshekhar and Babanrao Gholap are
guest artistes. The lyrics, written by Jagdish Khebudkar,
have been set to music by Nandu Honap. The songs have been
rendered by Suresh Wadkar, Ravindra Sathe and Ila Arun, who
has rendered a Marathi song for the first time. Cinematographed
by Prakash Shinde and Chinubhai Shah, the film has been edited
by Sham Gupte. Art by Manohar Achrekar, audiography by Anil
Nikam, choreography by Subal Sarkar and action by Akbar Sharif
are the other technical credits. The film is being presented
by Damodar Mhatre and Pravin Gaikwad.
Dhani Kunkawacha editing completed
Editor Ashok Patwardhan has completed the editing of Swapnil
Communications Dhani Kunkawacha directed by N Relekar
for producer Gajanan Mandhare. The makers of the film are
readying it for an early release all over Maharashtra. The
story is by Bhanudas Jagtap, while the screenplay and dialogues
have been written by N Relekar, who has also written the lyrics
jointly with DR Joshi. The musical score is by Shashank Powar.
The film stars Varsha Usgaonkar, Deepak Deoolkar, Satish Pulekar,Chetan
Dalvi, Surekha Kudchi, Jayshri Naik, Jyoti Nisal, Deepak Chaphekar,
Maqbul Mulla, Manju Nagdevte, Maya Khutegaonkar and Giriraj,
in a villain’s role for the first time. Cinematographed by
Koya Yamkar, it has choreography by Subal Sarkar.
