FESTIVE SUNDAY MORNINGS AT THE MOVIES

MUMBAI: October is a month of festivals – Dasserra and Diwali. As a special festive treat, beginning Sunday October 8th, the Children’s Film Society, India (CFSI) and the Y. B. Chavan Centre will be screening a selection of CFSI’s newest films for Mumbai's children. These films haven’t been shown in Mumbai yet.

The film for Sunday, October 8th, at 10.30 am is Ek Ajooba (74 mins./Hindi). The film stars Amrish Puri with Meghana Erande, Om Kar Kapoor, Harsh Luniya and Manjari. Tickets priced at Rs 5/- will be available at Y. B. Chavan Centre from 9 am onwards on the day of the show.

Synopsis: Chitra, an earnest student, despairs of never standing first in her class. Help arrives in the form of Guruji, a family friend and philosopher, who presents Chitra with the holy ‘Baboot’ (ashes) that give her the requisite confidence. But this also gets her brother and his rascal friend to devise schemes that would help them get the ashes for quick and easy solutions. Their machinations come to nothing when it is discovered that the holy ashes were nothing but residues from the local laundry man!!! Does Chitra succeed?

The film’s director Sunil Advani is a prolific filmmaker At present, he is working on a series on psychiatry, a short film on diamonds & gems development and a medical TV series.
