Antharangalu, top grosser on ETV

“It has fetched me a new image of a dignified and lovable husband and it has created a great impact on the viewers. Many of them ask me about the events in the serial as if it is their family affair and not a serial’’ Achyut

The family saga Antharangalu apart from being one of the most popular serials on ETV is also being billed as the top grosser on ETV. The weekly serial aired every Friday hooked the viewers for more than 200 episodes and is still going strong. All the lead artistes Achyut, Sarat Babu, Aswini, Kalpanan have become household names and its writer-director Suman (managing director of ETV) has won rave reviews for keeping up the tempo.

What’s more, to accommodate more advertisers, the serial commences 10 minutes before its scheduled time i.e at 8.20 pm instead of the actual time of 8.30 pm. Yet, many advertisers who are queuing up to air their commercials are feeling disappointed. The serial’s story has come full circle now starting with Sarath Babu sacking his manager Achyut for not marrying his daughter. He later looses his property to the evil designs of his daughter. Achyut attains a good standing in the society and even helps Sarath by offering him a job at his office.

The emotional drama between various characters has endeared itself to the viewers particularly womenfolk. With many sub-plots to be detailed the weekly serial will be on air probably for one more year. Talking about the serial, Achyut said “It has fetched me a new image of a dignified and lovable husband and it has created a great impact on the viewers and many of them ask me about the events in the serial as if it is their family affair and not a serial. I am confident of breaking this image if I have get a similar powerful role with a different shade”.
