Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke
MUSIC UNLEA!

Music, dance and stars. These were the three major attractions at the event. They added colour and glamour to a huge set Jaya Bachchan lights the traditional lamp at the music release function of Dhaai Akshar Prem Kedecked with a billboard of the film, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, in the backdrop, at the Durbar Hall of Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi on the starlit night of August 10, 2000. The occasion was the music release of the film. The event was meticulously planned and gracefully executed unlike other mundane music release functions.

There was the Big B and Jaya Bachchan to give their blessings to their budding starson, Abhishek Bachchan. Aishwarya Rai who plays the lead added lustre to the occasion with her beaming presence. Amrish Puri, who plays a positive role for a change was also present alongwith Shakti Kapoor. Amar Singh, general secretary of Samajwadi Party and a close pal of Amitabh Bachchan’s sat through the entire function that lasted for about 80 minutes. Exactly at the stroke of 9.30 pm, the heavily-crowded Durbar Hall came alive, as the TV crew and media men rushed towards the entrance. It was the entry of Bachchan family in tow with Amar Singh, followed by Amrish Puri and Shakti Kapoor.
The music of Abhishek-Aishwarya starrer Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke was released by Amitabh Bachchan on August 10 at a colourful function at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi.
Now it was time for the usual rituals. Jaya Bachchan was called upon the stage to light the traditional lamp. She showered her blessings on Abhishek and the entire unit of the film. “Poori film ke team to ek maa ka shubh kaamna deti hoon”, said Jaya, to a resounding ovation. It was very touching and natural. Nikhil Kapoor, the celebrity compere took over the proceedings. A group of dancers in colourful costumes graced the huge stage dancing to the title number from the film, choreographed by Saroj Khan specially for the occasion. This was followed by two other numbers from the film.

The film, a joint venture of Super Cassettes Industries and producer K Pappu, is a prestigious film for director Raj Kanwar in many ways. Raj Kanwar said that though ‘Love’ is a small word, entire volumes can be written on its meanings.
“Life without love is a big vacuum,” said Raj Kanwar. He added that Abhishek and Aishwarya had come up with terrific performances which would be loved by all those who believed in true love. K Pappu emphatically stated that his 20 year association with Super Cassettes had been very fruitful. A thunderous applause greeted the arrival of the very elderly Chandrabhan Dua, managing director, Super Cassettes, on the dais. The man who stays away from the limelight and makes rare appearances at functions, is the father of the late Gulshan Kumar.

Anuradha Paudwal was all praise for the young team of music directors Jatin-Lalit for churning out some chartbusting numbers. She said it was after 10 years that she had sung all the songs in a film. She alongwith Babul Supriyo sang the mukhda of the title track to regale the guests. The grand finale was performed by Amitabh Bachchan. He was invited to the podium and Bhushan Kumar, director of SCI, offered him the task of releasing the music. After posing for a few keepsakes for the media, Bachchan thanked Raj Kanwar for casting his son in the film. “He was the second man who placed trust in Abhishek, after JP Dutta, and I wish him and the film super success,” said Bachchan.

The party that followed continued till the wee hours of Friday and it was attended by virtually all the bigwigs related to music and film business in the capital.
